RICHEST AFRICAN FOOTBALLERS AND THEIR NETWORTH

The list of richest African footballers tries to explain and appreciate the success African footballers have enjoyed in the last decade, thanks to the increasing popularity of the game and huge investment. The number of African players plying their trade in Europe has increased over the course of Last decade due to the lucrative opportunity of playing in Europe  and this has contributed to the increase in wages and salaries for African players in Europe. Moreover, this trend has led to significant reduction in wages of African players plying their trade in Africa due to weak investments in African leagues. No African player plying his trade in Africa made the list.

Nine out of ten players on the list has either played in the Premier League or is currently playing in the Premier League and most of them have played for clubs that have one the Champions League at least once in Europe. From the analysis, it was deduced that wage difference in Europe also affects African players i.e African players in the Premier League makes as twice as much as their counterpart in other European leagues. It shows wage disparity despite the increasing wages in football affects African footballers.
The list of richest African footballers also shows that despite the increasing wages for African footballers in Europe, no North African player made the list. This trend is owed to the fact that many North African players still prefer to play in their local leagues especially players from Egypt and Tunisia.
